The current on-court Florida State basketball uniform draws inspiration from the game itself, FSU’s iconic logos, and Seminole heritage. My goal was to give FSU a look that sets them apart aesthetically, creating a design that not only celebrates their unique identity but also reflects their fast, aggressive style of play.

This uniform honors Florida State Seminole heritage by merging tradition with modern design elements. I deconstructed the logos and strategically incorporated key details to complement traditional basketball uniform placements. The serrated edges of the Spearhead were integrated into the arm and neckhole detailing, adding a dynamic sense of speed and precision—an intentional reflection of the fast, aggressive style of play that defines FSU Basketball.

This was a great opportunity to reintroduce big short graphics inspired by the ’90s era of basketball. The goal was to celebrate Florida State’s most iconic logo—the Spear—by designing the shorts in a way that made the Spear bold and unmistakable. Additionally, this design was created with the intent of reviving the presence of college hoops shorts in retail, giving fans a chance to connect with the game through wearable nostalgia.

I took inspiration from the Unconquered uniforms, which honor the Black Seminoles, also known as the Florida Maroons—a community of runaway slaves who integrated into the Seminole tribe in Florida and fought against Southern forces to protect their freedom. Their resilience and unwavering spirit served as the foundation for this design, reflecting both their history and the strength they embodied.
